What is a Bail Agent/ Bail Bondsman? A Bail Agent or Bail Bondsman is any person or corporation, which will act as a surety and pledge money or property as bail for the appearance of a criminal defendant in court. What we deliver to the court is called a bond. This is why we are called Bail bondsman. Only a licensed Bail Bondsman may transact, negotiate, and write a bond. In most cases a licensed Bail Agent is given Power of Attorney to write a bond for a specified amount. Licensing Requirements for Bail Agents The State of California offers three types of Bail Licenses Bail Agent’s license Bail Permitee’s license Bail Solicitors’ License Bail Bond Agents must comply with the following in the State of California in order to obtain a license. Be a continuous resident of the state of California for at least two years. Be of Good moral character Applicant must take 12 hours of classroom education. This is considered pre-licensing. After completing Pre-licensing Applicant must take and pass a written examination given by the commissioner.

What exactly is A Fugitive Recovery Agent/ Bounty Hunter? A fugitive Recovery agent is exactly what the name states. An individual who captures fugitives for money. Bail Bondsman bond out hundreds of thousands of individuals on a yearly basis. While I am a Bail Bondsman myself, I can't express enough the need for properly trained and efficient fugitive recovery agents in the Bail Bond industry. A good fugitive recovery agent can save a Bail Bondsman's you know what! Most bondsman won't actually admit how important fugitive recovery is because many of us don't want to admit that sometimes we have situations that are beyond our immediate control. While we bail bondsman make a living helping individuals accused of a crime get released on bond, fugitive recovery agents make a living helping Bail Bondsmen and Bail agents find the individuals who decide to flee while out on bail. A fugitive recovery agent has a very demanding job. The skills needed to become a fugitive recovery agent are more than just physical. A fugitive recovery agent needs to be able to think quickly on his or her feet. A fugitive recovery agent needs to be able to anticipate and study the habits of the individual or individuals he or she may be tracking. Successful fugitive recovery agents use the acronym IPDE( Identify predict decide and execute) daily in order to stay sharp and alert.
